Beyond the Roadshow:

The MYChipStart initiative is a national programme designed to accelerate the growth of Malaysia’s integrated circuit (IC) design ecosystem. Led under the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), it supports companies and startups in moving into higher-value semiconductor activities such as chip design and innovation.

The initiative provides structured support across the chip development lifecycle, helping organisations overcome key barriers such as high tool costs, limited access to infrastructure, and funding constraints.

End-to-End Development Support

  • Support across the full IC development pipeline — from ideation, design, and prototyping to validation and testing
  • Guidance and evaluation at different stages of technical readiness and product development

Access to Tools and Infrastructure

  • Access to industry-grade electronic design automation (EDA) tools and shared facilities
  • Reduced entry barriers for companies without prior access to costly semiconductor design environments

Funding and Grant Support

  • Funding support to assist with development costs, subject to evaluation criteria and programme guidelines
  • Assessment based on proof of concept, technical feasibility, and market potential
  • Focus on enabling commercially viable and scalable semiconductor solutions

Eligibility and Evaluation Focus

  • Open to Malaysian companies and startups involved or interested in IC design and semiconductor innovation
  • Projects are evaluated based on innovation, readiness level, and potential industry impact

More details on participation requirements and application guidelines will be shared during the session.

The Engineering Talent for Semiconductor Industry (ETSI) Programme is a national initiative led by CREST in collaboration with HRD Corp to develop Malaysia’s semiconductor talent pipeline under the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS).

It spans the full talent lifecycle — from students and fresh graduates to the existing workforce — through structured training, industry placements, and R&D collaboration.

  • Structured internships and graduate training aligned with industry needs
  • Upskilling and reskilling for the existing semiconductor workforce
  • Industry placements and apprenticeship opportunities with semiconductor companies
  • Access to advanced tools and infrastructure through CREST’s Centre of Excellence

More details on how your organisation can engage with ETSI will be shared during the session.
