Job Description

ASEM is seeking a hands-on and motivated IT Support Specialist / Junior IT & Lab Systems Executive to support our growing technology and research infrastructure. This role involves maintaining computer systems, networks, EDA environments, and laboratory equipment for staff, students, and external researchers accessing our tools for prototyping and IC design. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain experience in IT infrastructure, semiconductor design systems, and lab management.

Key Responsibilities

IT & Network Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain staff and student computers, office Wi-Fi, and overall network infrastructure.
  • Support firewall, VPN, and network configuration (Fortigate, Ubiquiti, or equivalent).
  • Monitor and maintain servers, storage systems, and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, NAS).
  • Troubleshoot system, network, and connectivity issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical support for IT infrastructure including workstations, printers, and network switches.
  • Assist in hardware and software installation, updates, and backups.
  • Coordinate with vendors or contractors for IT and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain IT documentation, asset inventory, and preventive maintenance schedules.

EDA (Electronic Design Automation) & Research Support

  • Manage and maintain EDA environments for IC design and engineering teams.
  • Support installation, licensing, and updates of EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA).
  • Provide technical support to students, trainers, and researchers using EDA tools.
  • Coordinate with external partners for EDA access for research or prototyping projects.
  • Ensure EDA server reliability, access control, and performance optimization.

Lab & Equipment Management

  • Manage and maintain lab testing and measurement equipment (e.g., Keysight instruments, oscilloscopes, analyzers).
  • Oversee equipment usage, calibration, and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist users with equipment operation, setup, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain records for lab assets, repairs, and inventory.
  • Support lab expansion and upgrades, including new equipment setup and layout coordination.

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field. 1–2 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or infrastructure management. Basic understanding of Linux systems and willingness to learn EDA tool management. Familiarity with Fortigate, Ubiquiti, or equivalent networking tools is a plus. Knowledge of server setup, NAS, VPN, and cloud storage preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple technical areas. Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Age below 35 years old.
Exposure to EDA environments (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA). Experience supporting engineering, R&D, or academic lab environments. Certification or ongoing learning in CCNA, RHCSA, or equivalent. Familiarity with Keysight, Tektronix, or similar lab instruments.
